Marietta was born and raised in Chicago. Her parents were German/Austrian immigrants who came here in search of The American Dream. She first realized her love of dance while waltzing to the beautiful Schneewaltze (Snow Waltz). Marietta found herself dancing on the (kitchen) dance floor nearly every Sunday afternoon with her uncle Konrad, who was then a Fred Astaire dance instructor at the north side Chicago school.
As a young adult, Marietta held the position of finance manager/director in a top producing Ford dealership for 12 years. She then put her business career on hold to become a full time wife and “stay at home” mom for the next 23 years.
A favorite quote of Marietta’s is, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” -Neale Donald Walsch-
On April 4 2013, Marietta began her dance journey as a student with Fred Astaire. Initially, her goal was only to become a more proficient social dancer. Her passion and interest quickly accelerated as she progressed through the Fred Astaire trophy system. She was eager to put her training and technique to the test by challenging herself to compete as a student, both regionally and nationally, as well as performing showcase numbers. Joining the Burr Ridge team marks the beginning of Marietta’s professional goals with Fred Astaire. She looks forward to helping, healing, and enhancing as many lives as possible by sharing all the many benefits that ballroom dance has to offer.
